Kanye West and Jay-Z’s new Watch The Throne album is set to smash through the exising one-week iTunes US sales record this week, according to Billboard. The record is held by Coldplay’s Viva La Vida’s 282,000 first-week sales on Apple’s store in 2008, but the Kanye/Jay-Z album shifted more than 155,000 on its first day alone this week. Watch The Throne is an iTunes-exclusive until Friday, thus funneling all its digital sales through Apple’s store. The album is also notable for another reason: it managed to launch without pre-release leaks, which is a rarity for such a high-profile album.
