MTV’s first O Music Awards took place earlier this year, focusing on digital music and social media. Now the company has confirmed that a second OMAs event is on the way, and that it will happen before the end of 2011. Two times in one year? Apparently this is all part of rethinking what an awards show should be for MTV – an annual frequency has gone out of the window. One change next time round is that fans and viewers will have a say in what the categories are, not just who should win them. Voting will take place online, on social networks and through mobile apps, with a strong intention to ensure a wide spread of artists are garlanded at the event. Source: Mashable
