Yesterday, we wrote about Atlantic’s partnership with PeerIndex in a campaign to reward Ed Sheeran’s superfans with tickets to an exclusive gig. We also wondered whether this would alienate fans whose PeerIndex ranking was too low to bag tickets. Atlantic’s Jack Melhuish got in touch with some more details, saying that avoiding this was a priority for the label. In fact, 50 of the 100 tickets will be available to fans with high PeerIndex scores, but the other 50 will be distributed to other fans who take part in the promotion via a lottery system. Also, everyone who enters – even if they’re unsuccessful – will get a link to a pruvate SoundCloud player with an album sampler of new material. Melhuish also says that on its first day, the PeerIndex redemption page was visited by more than 6,000 fans, with half of the playback places claimed by the end of the day.
