The Technology Strategy Board’s IC tomorrow initiative has announced a new contest focusing on games. The Future Games Contest will offer four £25,000 funding grants to developers who pitch innovative ideas in four categories. They include a music category, supported by EMI Music – the others are use of games technology in a non-gaming context (IPC Media), games ideas using digital creative content (National Geographic) and social games using existing networks (Tate). The four winners will be plugged into IC tomorrow’s 50,000-strong consumer community for trials, while semi-finalists will get unfunded support and access to the same digital testbed. The University of Abertay is also on board as a partner. Link
