Spotify has hired a former Zynga and Google exec for a new business development role based in the US. Teymour Farman-Farmaian was formerly general manager of strategic partnerships at social games giant Zynga, and before that was senior director of sales services at Google, including stints in Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America. According to TechCrunch, his role at Spotify will be Chief Acquisition & Retention Officer, inking partnerships and running Spotify’s business and support operations. While the news hasn’t been officially announced, Farman-Farmaian’s Facebook profile pic shows him standing proudly in front of the Spotify logo, which is something of a giveaway. His LinkedIn profile says he enjoys “challenging situations that require an aggressive, creative mindset”. Which is about as good a description of Spotify’s negotiations with rightsholders as we’ve seen. Source: TechCrunch LinkedIn
