Buzzy iPad app Flipboard has so far focused on aggregating news and other textual content from the web, but it seems the company has ambitions beyond that. Reuters reports that Flipboard is looking to strike deals with broadcasters and studios to offer TV shows and films to its three million users. E-books are also on the to-do list according to CEO Mike McCue, who says that the average Flipboard reader spends 45-60 minutes a day using the app to browse content. One question we’ve got: if the company is looking at TV, films and e-books, why not music too? Flipboard has worked with a couple of artists – MC Hammer and Duran Duran – but it is possible the licensing landscape, as well as more competition in streaming music, has made the company look to other entertainment types first.
