Bands rewarding their fans for promoting their music to friends? Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?! Okay, so they have – a few times – but that isn’t stopping new startup RockStar Motel from offering its own take on fan incentivisation. This one’s based around the metaphor of earning royalties for promoting music and signing up new fans, with the rewards being set by artists – including free downloads and tickets. “The fan becomes the record label. They sign and represent their favorite artists. They pledge loyalty to that artist. The more loyalty, the more fame the artist gets,” explains founder Luca Sacchetti. The company has raised $700,000 to launch, mainly from friends and family. The official launch comes in October. Source: VentureBeat
