Sony’s Qriocity brand was always slightly wince-inducing, but now it’s been consigned to the dumper. At the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin yesterday, Sony revealed that it’s mothballing Qriocity, moving its music and video services under a new Sony Entertainment Network brand that will also include PlayStation Network gaming. Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited will keep their names but sport new logos. Meanwhile, Sony says Music Unlimited will be launched in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland by the end of this year. Sony Entertainment Network will certainly have a high profile in the months ahead, including a prime position in Sony’s new tablet devices (see Gadgets / Games section for more on those).
