YouTube without Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga? Unthinkable! Yet that’s exactly what happened earlier this week, when the star’s videos were briefly removed from the service due to takedown requests. It seems every single official Bieber and Gaga video was the subject of a takedown request from ‘iLCreation’, resulting in some kind of automated removal so YouTube could investigate. Digital Music News has the official statements, with one from Vevo just after the removal stating “Someone is making false copyright claims against the Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga channels and YouTube has blocked access to the videos as a result”. Later came a follow-up: “A few videos by Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga were briefly taken down by YouTube as a result of false copyright claims. This issue has been resolved.” Although the fact that it could happen at all is rather worrying for artists big and small. Source: Digital Music News
