Personalised iPad magazine Flipboard has been downloaded more than 3.5 million times since its launch just over a year ago, according to CEO Mike McCue. He revealed the stat at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco, while also saying the app is enerating 550 million ‘flips’ per month – the equivalent of pageviews as people read articles and browse uploads from their social networks and favourite websites. The downloads figure means Flipboard is installed on roughly 10% of all the iPads ever sold. “The tablet is creating a totally new kind of consumption experience, the kind of experience people have dreamed about for years,” said McCue, revealing that the key hours for Flipboard usage are 8pm-10pm and then first thing in the morning.
