Live music service Songkick’s mobile app is only available for iPhone at the moment, but someone has stepped in to fill the gap on Android – using Songkick’s API. GigBeat just came out, and offers similar features: scanning the device’s music library to recommend artists who are playing nearby. If people don’t have music on their Android handset, it lets them log in to their Songkick and Last.fm accounts to pull down their preferences. The free app works on Android tablets too, although the developers promise a “more polished version for tablets is coming very soon”. Source: AndroLib
