Another company under scrutiny for the performance of its smartphone business is Microsoft, which has studiously avoided publishing many figures about sales of handsets running its Windows Phone OS. However, CEO Steve Ballmer has now commented on how the platform is doing, in a meeting with financial analysts. According to Electronista, Ballmer admitted that in its first year on the market, Windows Phone manufacturers have not sold “quite as many as I would have liked”, but predicted the new ‘Mango’ software update will reinvigorate sales. “I’m not saying I love where we are, but I am very optimistic on where we can be,” he said.
