We’ve been covering the crossover between music and games for years, from the heyday of Guitar Hero to newer social and mobile games opportunities. Now there’s a new partnership to talk about: PRS for Music and UK games industry body TIGA. They are holding a joint event on 14 October aimed at games startups who want to use music. The event will focus on business modelling, licensing and rights questions. PRS and TIGA are also working together in other ways, including potentially joint memberships. “Digital gaming presents an increasingly important revenue stream for our members, be it in writing specifically for this sector or targeting repertoires for use by gaming services,” says PRS’ business development manager Lucie Caswell. “Equally, our industries can learn from each other in terms of modelling, licensing and development as technology integrates our media.” Link
