The latest developer taking advantage of Spotify’s iOS mobile API is Parachute Apps, with its new iPhone app Metafy for Spotify. It’s a free download – it has to be under Spotify’s terms and conditions – which searches review-aggregation website Metacritic for the most critically acclaimed new albums, and cross references them against Spotify’s database to help people find the best new stuff. There’s even a ‘high scores section’ tracking the best albums of the last decade, and the option to get localised results. A simple, but really good idea. Plus it’s introduced us to the idea of an album called ‘Let It Beard’ by a band called Boston Spaceships, which is always nice. Source: AppShopper
