Microsoft has done a deal with Clear Channel to offer an HD vieo stream of this weekend’s iHeartRadio festival to owners of its Xbox 360 console. The event is being held to promote the relaunch of Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio service, which now has Pandora-like personalised radio alongside its traditional radio streams. The concert will be available to 35 million members of the Xbox Live community. “Xbox 360, the number one selling entertainment console in the United States, and iHeartRadio, the leading digital radio platform, are the perfect match,” claims Clear Channel Radio president and CEO John Hogan. And the wording jumped out at us from that canned quote: ‘entertainment console’ – it hammers home how these devices are about much more than gaming nowadays, with the companies behind them looking for deals for other kinds of content.
