Shazam has brought back unlimited free tagging to its free iOS app. It was previously restricted to five tags a month and the premium version costs £3.99. Users who have paid for the premium version will still have ad-free usage. CEO Andrew Fisher stated that ‘Shazamers’ identify 1 billion songs a year and generate over $100m in revenue from track purchases as a result. Shazam is offering a special ‘Golden Tag’ promotion in the UK to accompany the announcement. Each time users tag a song between September 29th and November 15th they will be entered into a pot to win £15,000. The reintroduction of unlimited tagging to iOS and the Golden Tag competition is sponsored by Capital One. Source: press release
