It’s clearly the day for Chrome browser plug-ins. With Plus Music having scooped The Echo Nest’s social music app prize, now another plug-in called Turntable Plus is aiming to overlay new features on buzzy music service Turntable.fm. Visit the latter with the plug-in running, and you’ll see an expanded chat window with the ability to view people’s Turntable Dashboard Profiles, to see what songs they’ve tagged as lame or awesome on Turntable.fm. The plug-in also lets you see who’s voted for and against an individual song that’s playing, while providing notifications when a virtual DJ slot becomes available, or when a desired keyword (e.g. a particular artist) is being played. It all sounds good, although you’d think Turntable.fm will be looking at building some of these features into its core service sooner rather than later, negating the need for a plug-in.
