Fan-funding firm PledgeMusic has unveiled its first campaign in mainland Europe, working with Finnish band Apocalyptica – of ‘four cellists playing metal covers’ fame. The band is releasing a new photobook covering several years of live gigs. People who pledge to fund the campaign will get an e-version of the book, plus the option to buy a signed print edition as well as other special-edition merchandise. Indian charity The Florence Home Foundation will get a cut of the pledges, too. “PledgeMusic has built a very strong base in both the UK and US since our launch 2 years ago and we feel that the time is now right to make our offering available in mainland Europe. We are proud to be associated with Apocalyptica,” says PledgeMusic MD Malcolm Dunbar. Apocalyptica’s managers also work with Heather Nova, who has also recently run a campaign using PledgeMusic. At the time of writing, Apocalyptica have raised 30% of their desired total from 204 pledges.
