Groupon-style daily deals for vinyl albums? It’s like a blessed union of the analogue and digital worlds! Sort of. Yes, Sony Music Entertainment’s PopMarket site launched in November 2010, offering a daily deal on music and merchandise for fans, including box sets, physical albums and other memorabilia. Now it’s getting an extension: the PopMarket Vinyl Store, which will sell ‘180 gram audiophile’ LP pressings for artists including The Strokes, Ozzy Osbourne and Tom Waits – all exclusive. The albums will have the original artwork, but will add ‘deluxe booklets’ and other bundled extras.
