British rapper Professor Green has a new ‘Inconvenience Store’ on his Facebook page, which taps into virtual economics to get fans buying ‘Greenbacks’ currency, or earning ‘Greenpoints’ by watching videos and answering questions – which can then be redeemed for virtual goods. It’s the first results from a partnership between his label EMI Music and digital commerce firm Live Gamer, but other artists will be getting the treatment in the months ahead. “Live Gamer’s expertise in virtual goods and engagement combined with the global reach of the Facebook platform gives our artists, starting with Professor Green, a whole range of new opportunities to reach out to and engage directly with their fans,” says EMI’s VP of digital projects Neil Tinegate. For more information on the campaign, see last week’s Sandbox Report, which had an exclusive on the partnership – it’s only been officially announced this morning. Link
