Facebook video-chat app ChatWithTheBand launched in beta earlier this year, but is now available for all artists to add to their Facebook pages. The idea remains the same: live video-chats with fans, with analytics and ‘VIP List’ features built in. There’s a focus on one-to-one chats with webcam-equipped fans while others watch: effectively a digital meet’n’greet. The artists can also play tracks to fans as they wait, with plans to add archiving features in the future so video-chats can be stored and watched on the page. Hypebot reports that ChatWithTheBand is working on advanced e-commerce features – currently fans can simply click through a specified link to buy music – as well as charity chats with donate buttons built in.
