Daniel Ek and Rio Caraeff have just cause to clink the champagne glasses next time they meet: the two music tech CEOs have both been included in Fortune magazine’s 40 Under 40 list of “the hottest young stars in business across the globe”. Ek is a new entry at number 18, with Caraeff rising from 31st in 2010 to 28th now. Elektra Records co-presidents Mike Caren and John Janick are in joint 32nd place too. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg tops the chart, with Google CEO Larry Page in second place. Other tech execs on the list include Twitter’s Jack Dorsey (8th), Google’s Sergey Brin (11th) and Marissa Mayer (20th), Groupon’s Andrew Mason (27th), Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley tied with Careff in 28th, and Facebook’s Carolyn Everson (35th).
