The latest company looking to apply the Foursquare check-in model to live entertainment is ticketing firm Tixdaq, with a new iPhone app called Fanatix. It’s described as a “fan discovery and group messaging network” which “seamlessly matches your Facebook friends and their activities with a database of over 200,000 live events and connects them via iMessage, iPhone’s new group messaging service”. The idea being people can see when friends are going to the same gig or sporting event (or watching it on TV), and group chat with them. People have to check in to events to make it work, and this being Tixdaq, there are also ticketing sales built in: more than 11 million tickets to 200,000 events in 186 countries, according to the blurb.
