Universal Music’s U-Apps brand has another artist app live on the App Store: Alice Cooper – Welcome 2 My Nightmare – Air Rock. As the latter part of the name implies, it’s all about playing air guitar and air drums, thrashing along to songs from Alice Cooper’s new album. There’s an Air FX feature to remix tracks too, with social features to challenge friends to beat scores on Facebook and Twitter. The app is a paid title: 69p in the UK.
However, this is just one element of the digital activity going on around the new album. There’s also a Coopertizer website-reskinner, a YouTube Listening Party microsite and a partnership with Classic Rock magazine for an iPad ‘Exclusive Fan Pack‘ app which lets people listen to the album in full, while watching video commentary, an interview and browsing photos and reviews. Lots of innovative stuff, in other words.
