Streaming radio and DJ mix service Mixcloud has a new partnership with MP3 store Juno Download. They’re touting it as ‘Shazam for radio’, although a more prosaic way to put it is ‘buy links for songs in Mixcloud mixes’. Juno is analysing Mixcloud’s collection of more than 500,000 radio shows and DJ sets and providing accurate tracklistings, as well as buy links for songs available in its four million-strong catalogue. “Being able to click directly to the tracks on Juno Download is great, not only for me as a consumer, but for the artists and labels that we support,” says Mixcloud co-founder Sam Cooke. Mixcloud has been a stealthy success since its launch in 2009, so it will be interesting to see how well the new feature performs when it comes to stimulating music sales.
