Clear Channel has announced that it won’t be carrying any advertisements on the custom stations in its new iHeartRadio service until 1 April 2012. The service was relaunched earlier this year with Pandora-style personal radio features, alongside the ability to stream more than 800 of Clear Channel’s traditional radio stations.

“The New iHeartRadio has exceeded our expectations – and more importantly, those of our fans – since it launched in September,” says Clear Channel Digital president Brian Lakamp. “Because Custom Stations are only a feature of the New iHeartRadio, we have the luxury of being able to extend our commercial-free Custom Stations till April 1, 2012.”

iHeartRadio’s mobile apps have been downloaded 44 million times, and the service is currently generating 65 million listening hours a month.
