We’ve written a lot about apps on mobile phones and tablets this year, but there’s a third prong to the apps market that’s still in its early days: connected TV. Linkin Park has become one of the first music artists to launch a TV app, working with Flingo on something called Linkin Park TV. It’ll be available on connected TVs from companies including LG, Samsung, Vizio, Insignia, Sanyo and Western Digital, and will offer videos, photos, news and tour dates.
“It’s basically everything a Linkin Park fan would want to see,” Flingo CEO Ashwin Navin tells Billboard. The app will be offered through Flingo’s software, which the company says currently reaches 7.2 million screens. It’s pitching for other artists to sign up too, offering a revenue share of advertising as a bait.
