Microsoft has launched an updated version of the software for its Xbox 360 console, beefing up its TV and film capabilities while providing new ways for people to search for entertainment content using their voices. It all ties into Microsoft’s hopes of providing THE convergent device for the living room.
“We think you’re going to use one device for movies, music and games in the future,” Microsoft’s general manager of Xbox Live entertainment and advertising Ross Honey tells VentureBeat. “We want to make the content accessible and enhance the actual experience. We think you will want to watch it on Xbox as it is more social and more personal.” A combination of Microsoft’s Kinect and Bing technologies will let people speak a film, TV show or artist name to find relevant content on their console.
