Online storage service MegaUpload remains a villain for some rightsholders, but the company has hit back by commissioning a video featuring big-name artists to sell its merits. P Diddy, Will.I.Am, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg and Kanye West all appeared in the video, along with a host of other artists. And Kim Kardashian. Sample quotes: “When I got to send files across the globe, I use MegaUpload,” says Will.I.Am. “When I’m sending my hits out I use Megaupload, `cos it’s fast. I can receive hits and I can send `em out,” adds Diddy. CEO Kim Dotcom (yes, a pseudonym) tells TorrentFreak that the video is an attempt to shake off piracy accusations. “Mega might become one of the biggest customers of the content industry and all this `rogue’ nonsense will be forgotten. We want content creators to get paid!” The postscript to this story being the fact that the video was removed from YouTube after a copyright complaint from Universal Music Group. Dotcom isn’t happy. “Those UMG criminals. They are sending illegitimate takedown notices for content they don’t own…”
