Remember when Kiss’ Gene Simmons had his website hacked after some bullish comments on piracy? The speed with which his site was taken down was amusing, but the consequences could be very serious for the person accused of doing it. 24 year-old Kevin Poe has been charged with two federal counts of conspiracy and unauthorised impairment of a protected computer. If convicted, his sentence could be up to 15 years in prison. Simmons has yet to comment on the news – sensible, given that the case hasn’t yet gone to court. His original comments: “The music industry was asleep at the wheel and didn’t have the balls to go and sue every fresh-faced, freckle-faced college kid who downloaded a clip, so now we’re left with hundreds of people without jobs…”
