Mobile discovery service Shazam now has more than 165 million users tagging five million songs a day, the company has announced. There’s an interesting comparison here with figures revealed back in January 2010, when Shazam users were tagging two million songs a day, and generating 260,000 digital track purchases as a result. If that 13% conversion rate has continued, Shazam could now be generating 650,000 song purchases every day. Anyway, the company has also revealed its top-tagged songs for 2011, with Adele’s Rolling In The Deep notching up 4.2m tags, followed by LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem (3.4m) and Pitbull’s Give Me Everything (3.3m). The company has also provided its tips for 2012 based on trending tags. They include Frank Ocean, A$AP Rocky, YG, Kreashawn, Lana Del Rey, Spector, Azealia Banks, Friends, Michael Kiwanuka and Excision.
