Research In Motion is aggressively promoting its new BBM Music service in the UK. The company says that anybody downloading the app before 4 January 2012 will get the first six months for free – one of the longest free trials we’ve seen for a digital music service. Existing users will get their current subscription extended to four months’ free usage too. RIM hasn’t given any public stats on how BBM Music is doing in terms of users, but the free trial should at least widen its funnel to ensure lots of BlackBerry users give it a try.
