Just days after BigChampagne was acquired by Live Nation, it has announced a major hire: Ethan Kaplan, formerly of Warner Bros Records, WEA and Warner Music Group. He’s joining as VP of product for LiveNation.com, while also founding a new division with BigChampagne’s Eric Garland and Joe Fliescher called Live Nation Labs. “We are hacking on a huge stage,” writes Kaplan in a post on his blog, while talking about his shared ideals with Garland. “Emotionally and scientifically we understood that the power of entertainment was not diminished through technology, only changed and in most cases strengthened.” Kaplan also says that Live Nation Labs is “on the hunt for great developers and designers” including iOS and Android.
