We reported last year on the court battle shaping up between Viacom and its former subsidiary Harmonix, over bonus payments for the success of the Rock Band console games. Viacom said that falling sales meant it didn’t have to pay those bonuses, while Harmonix sued it for $700m. Now independent ‘resolution accountants’ have delivered their verdict: Viacom owes Harmonix $383m. Is that the end of the argument? Of course not. Viacom has now filed a new lawsuit “seeking to compel the resolution accountants to consider arguments and evidence that were improperly excluded and to vacate the determination of the resolution accountants on the grounds of manifest error”.
