Artists shouldn’t ignore Google+ says Ariel Hyatt

Digital PR Ariel Hyatt says that artists should be getting onto Google+ sharpish, rather than shunning Google’s social network until they’re sure it’s popular enough. In a Music Think Tank article, Hyatt gives three key reasons. First, Google+ pages rank highly on Google’s search engine. “Even if you are still too obscure for your Facebook Fan Page or your personal website to appear towards the top of a Google search, a Google + page will almost instantly rank towards the very top.” Second, she highlights its rapid growth – albeit with figures from September last year when it had 25m users (it’s now past the 62m mark). And third, she cites the example of singer/songwriter Daria Musk using its Hangouts video feature as proof that Google+ can be “a powerful tool for musicians”.
