Toyota’s latest social media campaign has a musical focus. It’s inviting people to answer this question – “What has life thrown at you today?” – between 12 and 14 January via Facebook or Twitter. The best answers will then be chosen and turned into personalised music videos featuring two characters from Toyota’s latest TV ad: ‘Gadget the rapper and his puppet compatriot Slick’. The campaign is called The Outsmart Shout Out, and will see the videos distributed through Facebook and YouTube. “They say never work with children and animals – surely puppets and cartoons are up there too?” says Andy Jex, deputy creative director at partner agency Saatchi & Saatchi. “It’s a daunting and exciting proposition.”
