US music magazine Spin has a new social media trick: condensing its album reviews into 140 characters and publishing them as tweets on the @SPINReviews account. “The days of wasting people’s time with 1,000 words about a record that we don’t even think is good is over,” senior editor Chris Weingarten tells Mashable. “In addition, there’s something really artistic and poetic about making a review short, simple and to the point.” The tweets will be showcased on Spin’s website too. Mashable explains that Weingarten has been doing this himself for a while on his @1000timesyes account. The move follows critical acclaim for the independent @Discographies account, which tweets pithy summaries of artists’ entire recorded output, and won the Village Voice’s Critic Of The Year award in 2010.
