Mobile Backstage has been making mobile apps for artists for some time now, and last year added Facebook application support to its platform. Now it’s bringing the web into the mix too. It’s launched ‘browser version’, which the company describes as “a web interface that can reside anywhere on an artist’s website, granting fans unlimited access to the artist’s Facebook and mobile community”. This means fans can browse news, pictures, videos and music, as well as send messages to one another, check in to gigs and download the mobile apps. This feels like part of an important trend for artists’ mobile apps not to be separate silos, but instead to be better integrated into the artist’s online and social presences, with one fan community spanning them all.
