A mysterious developer called App Data Systems has launched a suite of Android apps promising monthly downloads of the top 10 songs in Billboard’s US charts across a variety of genres. “You will never have to browse and search the web for Top Music one song at a time again. The Top 10 Rock MP3s will load directly to your Android phone or tablet all at once with our patented design,” promises their listings. Apps are available for Rock, Pop, R&B HipHop, Gospel, Latin and Country, charging $10 a month, $60 for six months or $120 for 12 months (er.. no discounts then). The ‘developer’s website’ link on Android Market leads to the site of a company called Global gBusiness, a web design company that claims to have worked for General Motors, Dow Chemical and PricewaterhouseCoopers among other companies. The question is whether it has the necessary licences for its new music apps.
