Google has announced a new milestone for its YouTube video service: 4bn daily views. That’s up 25% on eight months ago according to Reuters, which adds that around 60 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute, versus 48 hours back in May 2011. Google also says that 3bn YouTube videos a week are now making money from advertising around them. Anyway: 4bn daily views, so how many of those are music videos? There are no hard figures, although we know that in the US, Vevo is generating 782m video views on YouTube a month according to comScore’s latest figures, while Warner Music’s channel is doing 207m. That means between Vevo and WMG, around 33m daily views for music videos on YouTube in the US alone.
