Blogging platform Tumblr now reaches 120m people every month, racking up more than 15bn monthly page views. That’s according to CEO David Karp, who was being interviewed on-stage at the Digital Life Design conference yesterday. There are now more than 42m Tumblr blogs, and Karp said the company remains focused on the needs of the ‘creators’ who are setting up Tumblr blogs – including an increasing number of musicians. “The early growth that we saw was around creators … our first community was those creators,” he said, according to VentureBeat. “We didn’t set out to build network .. all we wanted to do was make novel tools.” Karp also added that currently 45% of Tumblr’s audience is in the US, but that it’s keen to beef up its international visitors in 2012 and beyond.
