Stones Throw Records is the latest independent label to experiment with its own subscription service for fans. The label will charge $10 a month for a service where “we share every new Stones Throw release, delivered right to your inbox”. That means members get every album, single and EP released by the label, as well as “select music from the catalog, and exclusive advance material”. The music will come as 320kbps MP3 files, and is the result of a partnership with Drip.fm – itself created by another label, Ghostly, when it launched its own subscription service (Bulletin, 3-Oct-11). “We think their service is a great one, and we’re proud to work together,” says a statement from Stones Throw.
