Kylie Minogue re-records old hits for new digital campaign


It’s 25 years since the release of Kylie Minogue’s first single, Locomotion. To celebrate, the star has been holed up in London’s Abbey Road studios re-recording some of her hits, which will be released over the course of this year digitally. Social media is heavily involved in the campaign. The first track – an acoustic version of 1992 track ‘Finer Feelings’ – will be made available as a video today, but only if 25,000 fans tweet the #k25fans hashtag once the campaign goes live at 5pm. It’s the latest example of a ‘tweet to unlock’ digital campaign, although the nature of EMI’s initiative goes further than previous examples that have focused on a single track, rather than a series of releases.
