Fresh from this year’s Midemlab contest, we’re onto the next competition for music technology startups: SXSW Accelerator. Eight finalists and three ‘alternates’ have been announced, with the finalists including one of the Midemlab winners: Finnish developer Ovelin, for its WildChords music education iPad game. It’s joined by AudioVroom, ConcertCrowd, Onesheet, Rexly, VenLabs, 45 Sound and Swarm.fm. The alternates are Tastemate, CrowdStream and Fried Green Apps. The finalists will be showing off their services during SXSW in March. Judges for the category include ReverbNation COO Jed Carlson, Topspin CEO Ian Rogers, artists Michael Franti and Kristin Hersh, and VCs Larry Marcus and Hany Nada.
