Well, we’ve got just the thing: just such a gig is being streamed by Italian research and education network GARR, with the instrument being the Epigonion. It’s a wooden string instrument that sounds a bit like a harp or harpsichord, if you’re wondering. It’s been recreated using cutting-edge computer modelling technology, and will be played alongside modern instruments at the concert. Presumably it’s only a matter of time before an Epigonion iPhone app turns up too.
