Music games are enjoying a rebirth through the success of dancing titles like the Just Dance franchise. Now there’s a new developer on the block looking to make music games with artists. It’s called Echo Peak, includes staff from EA and DJ Hero developer Freestyle Games, and will be making games for consoles and “emerging digital platforms” (presumably smartphones and tablets, but also possibly Facebook). The company is working on its first game, which it describes as a ‘collaboration with a major global music star’. “We are passionate about working with talent outside our industry in ways that are smarter, more interesting and more audience-focused than just plugging songs into well-worn templates,” says game director Ciaran Walsh.
