Warner Music Group may still be holding out on music videos service Vevo, but it has big plans for YouTube. The label group has announced plans for a new channel on Google’s video site called The Warner Sound, which will feature original shows and videos rather than simply music videos. That includes a drama series called Staged that uses lyrics from WMG tracks as its script; a strand of live sessions called The Live Room; and an interactive choose-your-adventure group of videos called Finding Cody Simpson. “We are looking at the YouTube channel as an entertainment network,” says Ocean MacAdams, who’s overseeing the channel’s content. “We’re thinking of franchises, concepts and formats that we think would be entertaining to a swath of viewers. It also happens to be incredibly convenient that we have a roster of amazing artists to help us produce the content.”
