Independent trade body AIM has announced the date for its second annual awards. The AIM Independent Music Awards will take place on 29 October, and will double in size. Entries don’t open until June, but last year’s event included categories for best small label, innovative marketing campaign of the year, and independent entrepreneur of the year. “We hope that as the awards show grows in size and stature, the wider industry will take note of the unique contribution the indie sector makes to the quality and diversity of the British Music Industry,” says AIM boss Alison Wenham. Our hope is that there might be some new categories to reflect the startups and developers who’ve been helping music fans discover and listen to independent artists.
