There are two more interesting new services to be aware of in the music creation game. Zya is the work of startup Music Mastermind, providing an animated studio and virtual musicians for users to play with, as well as licensed tracks to incorporate. Meanwhile, Songster is a Facebook social game based around music, launched by Mowgli Games. The game follows the career of an aspiring artist as they play gigs and release music. The hook being that the player gets to create the music by dragging and dropping samples into a grid, with song packs provided by emerging independent artists. “We wanted to allow players to create something real: something players can produce themselves and show off outside the game,” Mowgli CEO Marshal Seese tells VentureBeat. “We wanted to make Songster a game that’s not only fun, but also lets people create real music they can call their own.”
