Live Nation’s Eric Garland and Ethan Kaplan have been talking about their ambition to make more investments in music startups through their new LN Labs division, following the recent acquisition of Setlist.fm (Bulletin, 7-Mar-12). They tell VentureBeat that they are eyeing investments in and acquisitions of ‘consumer-facing products that enhance the before, during and after-show experience or infrastructure companies that make the overall [live] experience more seamless for users’. Further details are slightly vague – puzzlingly there is only one eight-word quote in the piece. But there is some information on a home-grown project from LN Labs: a mobile app called Laminate for SXSW. It helps people find stages and shows, and also offers photo-sharing features.
